Overview and Challenges:
Steve Madden, a global fashion accessories brand with over 220 stores in 80+ countries, partnered with January Digital to launch “Everyone Has Something to Say About Shoes,” a fully integrated Fall 2025 campaign designed to blend cinematic storytelling with performance media. With a key retail season approaching and rising competition for consumer attention, the brand needed to evolve beyond traditional product-led advertising and prove that creative innovation could drive measurable business impact.
Steve Madden faced creative, media, and measurement challenges heading into the campaign:
- Breaking through in a saturated content environment: Consumers face constant streams of content, making it harder than ever to capture attention and drive meaningful engagement with traditional retail advertising formats.
- Creative volume and platform adaptation: The campaign required a significant number of variations tailored to different channels, formats, and funnel stages, all while maintaining a cohesive brand identity across platforms.
- Expanding beyond established lower-funnel channels: Steve Madden needed to scale investment into TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube and validate that those platforms could drive incremental business impact, not just reach.
- Balancing creative innovation with performance accountability: A cinematic, brand-led campaign had to deliver against hard performance targets, requiring tight alignment between creative, media, and measurement teams throughout the flight.
Goals:
The Fall 2025 campaign set out to prove that bold creative and disciplined media strategy could deliver against both brand and business objectives in the same breath.
- Drive eCommerce revenue meeting or exceeding campaign targets.
- Increase incremental revenue and ROAS through third-party measurement and optimization.
- Expand beyond core channels to build a diversified, full-funnel media presence.
- Leverage video-first creative to capture attention and maximize engagement across platforms.
- Increase brand awareness and consideration among target audiences ahead of the holiday season.
- Drive new customer growth through incremental reach and audience expansion.
Our Work:
January Digital built and executed a full-funnel, multi-platform media strategy designed to translate a bold creative vision into measurable performance.
- Developed a platform-specific media architecture: Each channel played a distinct role in the funnel. TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat drove discovery and engagement through video-forward formats, Meta and Google captured and converted demand, and Pinterest supported consideration through trend-led inspiration. No platform was treated as interchangeable.
- Applied a full-funnel approach within every platform: Rather than siloing channels by funnel stage, January Digital activated awareness-through-conversion messaging across all platforms, ensuring consistent storytelling and engagement at every touchpoint regardless of where a consumer entered.
- Translated cinematic creative into platform-native formats: The brand’s four-part, short-film-inspired campaign, built around ASMR-style walking videos, stylized typography, and immersive sound design, was adapted into platform-specific edits optimized for in-feed performance without losing creative integrity.
- Validated channel investment through incrementality testing: January Digital used incrementality measurement and real-time optimization throughout the campaign to identify which channels and tactics were driving net-new demand, then scaled investment accordingly rather than relying on last-touch attribution.
- Optimized continuously across channels and creative: Active in-flight management ensured budget followed performance, creative was refreshed to sustain engagement, and messaging stayed relevant as the season progressed.
Results and Business Impact:
The Fall 2025 campaign exceeded expectations on both brand and business metrics, demonstrating that cinematic creative and data-driven media strategy are not a tradeoff.
- Campaign revenue reached $19.5 million, up 21% year over year.
- Incremental revenue reached $14.8 million, up 45% year over year.
- TikTok delivered a $6.62 iROAS, the highest incremental efficiency of any channel in the mix.
- Snapchat incremental demand grew 202%, validating its role as a scaled reach driver for new audiences.
- YouTube drove a 118% lift in branded search activity among exposed audiences, signaling strong upper-funnel impact on intent.
